This trial had the aim of observing the user interaction with a website they have never previously interacted with. We then were to interpret the data and understand user struggles with interacting with the product and make a user experience anaylysis.
Research questions are an essential element to any UX research process, they guide the entire activity and help the researchers define what they are trying to understand. Along with a few specific research questions, we formulated assumptions to verify and validate throughout the research.
The entire research trial had a specific planning that we established before conducting it, consisting of each step we would take with each of the users. Such plan is required to ensure that all the users have gone through the same experiences and data gathered from one is not influenced by different factors, therefore all data being admissible for interpretation.
Most of the usability issues found were due to buttons being misplaced or buttons that took the user into an unpredictable location (such as the back button not taking you to the previously visited page).
We ended our research by filling a research journal with all of our findings and a thorough explanation for each of them and some suggestions for what we believe would make the site easier to use at the first glance.
