The challenge was to design an immersive experience for children and parents to read stories together at bedtime and make it so that the kids are activated and want to experience the story in-depth, thefore being eager to learn more.
Being part of the Interaction Design course I took, the requirements were to build the interface upon specific layout principles. This interface uses methods like Center Stage for the homepage, the main part of the page taking up almost the entire space, due to it having mainly one functionality. The navigation is done through Collapsible Panels and top menus, while the logo in the top left corner is constantly an Escape Hatch that takes the user to the homepage.
Some fine details were incorporated in the design to make it more appealing for children as well as help them navigate the platform if they want to take over and read the story without their parents. I made sure they weren't lost by always indicating the page and level they were situated at and integrated characters and small story themed elements into the interface to make them want to explore it more.
